I have a producing well on my property and have been receiving royalties over the past 30 years. I got on the ODNR website with the permit number, and they say this well was abandoned and plugged in 2004. I can find no evidence of production for this well except for what the producer sends me. What does this mean? Are they not posting the production to ODNR? Any advice?
It is possible that your mineral acreage was unitized and that you are receiving royalty checks for a fraction of production from wells off your acreage (but within the same unit). If you have any specific information about the well (name, County, state, etc.) it would be possible to research it a little. Good luck.
