Noble County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Can anyone tell me why an oil company would only take a few barrels from a well each month? It seems to me that they spent so much to drill the well, how can they profit by pumping so few barrels each month?

Linda, There are 2 drilling phases, step out drilling and infill drilling. Step out is knowing where you want to start drilling and testing in order to determine shape, size and continuity of the unit where you intend to accomplish successful infill drilling. We haven’t made it to the infill stage.

Why would - A oil company let a lease expire - then is going to have to re-bid - on s-17-24n-3e - - saw they asked the state for more time - but they didn’t ask the BIA - now the BIA is saying they will have to re-bid in OCT -

They have a permit but I have no way of knowing if they started the pad . The next thing they will file will be the spur report when they start drilling

Ron, is their a pad yet at Waits well I think the api is 35103246710000

Steven, Could be they can’t get around to drilling before leases expire. Or, environmentalists have renewed their call for a moratorium on all federal leasing for fossil fuel development. Because, "The Obama administration announced major environmental news on a Friday July 18, 2014. The Department of Interior decided to allow seismic testing off the southern Atlantic coast from Delaware to Florida. (federal waters).

I think they had trouble getting a rig. it just seemed to me - it would of been easier to ask - if they could have more time - after investing the money already - Thanks Martha

Thanks Ron - I know a survey was done in Dec 2013 - But Larry at the Pawnee BIA - said - nothing was paid or the paper work was not sent in to extend - I am thinking that - the Ok Commish - didn’t inform them - that they needed to file with this BIA also.
