Today is a sad day. After calling > 44 oil and gas attorneys in Oklahoma, not one would represent me as a mineral owner. I am a stranger to these men and women. I live in another state. Here when you need an attorney, you get your pick and this is what I am used to. Found, it is not the way of Oklahoma and oil and gas. I tried to protest a drilling and spacing unit application pro se. Today, I lost. I think with good representation it would have been a different outcome.
It is also extremely difficult to find one that will help with leases. They are so busy with their oil and gas company clients.
Liz, too bad you can not find legal representation. As a mineral owner myself who will be dealing with drilling and spacing applications, I am very interested in the reasons I might want to protest. Would you be willing to briefly share what you see as concerns. I am trying to learn more about this business.
I'm new to this business (owner who inherited mineral rights) and have the same question as Wesley. What are some of the reasons that an owner would protest a drilling and spacing unit application?
