It looks as if a well location has been staked on CR 347, about 5.5 miles SW of Nucor. I assume it will be a Comstock well as they have completed several others nearby.
Has anyone heard what’s happening with the Mitsui Ohenson well?
Bembo, will you list an abstract number near this location please. Thanks
I believe it’s A-784 T.J. Shaun
May also be spelled Shawn
Holt unit tract 9a good morning
What are you referencing?
That’s the name of the unit
Yes and it is a Comstock well
Does it have a lease id yet?
Thank you for providing the unit name Steve6969. Would you share how/where you located that info, please?
Can Steve 6969 or anyone else confirm the unit name for the well on CR 347 in the TJ Shaun survey? Any additional details would be appreciated.
The RRC’s public map is showing a permitted location for a directional well on the Underwood survey (A-893). This survey is adjacent to Shawn (A-784). It is very close to the track of the Miles well which was completed by Comstock about a year ago.
That is an old Marathon permit that was filed around the time they drilled the Minter deep well. Marathon then moved out of production and into refining.
Back in January, Steve 6969 stated that the unit name for a site on 347 S. of the BN RR is Holt. Steve 6969, I believe you may be referencing the site on CR 392 just below Robbins i.e. the Holt Ranch, not the site on 347.
Bembo, where exactly on CR 347 did you see the pad? I grew up on that road so I know it well.
Also, my family has some acreage pooled in the Miles well, but other acreage from the lease that wasn’t put in the pooling unit. This is on the western side of the road. The primary term was due to expire in Feb 2026, so I think putting up a pad would enable Comstock to hang onto the unused acreage.
If the pad is on the other side of the road, that concerns property that the Golie well has been holding for the past 70 years.
I don’t feel comfortable posting property owners’ names, but if you know the location of the Golie wells in proximity to the County Rd., the new pad site is on the same side of the road and before you reach the BN RR if headed toward Jewett.
Knowing what side of the road it is on is specific enough to narrow it down to two surveys - Underwood (A-893) and Shawn (A-784). It’s most likely Shawn because the Miles well runs right through Underwood. Either way, it is good news. Thanks for sharing that information.
Comstock filed a drilling permit request today for the Leon Allocation 38H well. The surface location is 3.6 miles southwest of Jewett. It is a bit south of CR 347. Pad is in the T Toby A-888 Survey, but right on the border with the T Shawn Survey A-784.

Thanks, Alan. I’m glad Comstock is continuing to develop this area in Leon County.
