New Owner!

Hello All,

Not sure if this is allowed, but I’ve been lurking a while. My late father and his brother owned mineral rights in Desoto Parish LA - that their father acquired like a hundred years ago. Both passed in 1991 and 1992 respectively and royalties have been escheated to their last state of residence or held in suspense for God knows how long until I discovered it a few years ago and went through the unclaimed property process. The last unclaimed was substantial so I figured I should get it resolved before my mom passed away since her state law made her the only one who could claim it. FINALLY got dad’s ownership resolved this month and my uncle died with no heirs so that is now ours too. So now my brother and I are officially mineral rights owners and royalty payments come directly to us. Talk about a huge burden finally lifted for a non-oil person. I look forward to absorbing everyone’s knowledge.

You are in the right place! Ask tons of questions. You also might be interested in the National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO). They have a Louisiana/Arkansas chapter with really great directors that can help you learn. They just had their annual convention, but watch for webinars on NARO.
