New Member Question/mineral rights/lease info

This is an awesome site and I'm fortunate to have found it!

Recently, I received an offer to purchase her rights, this is how I became aware of the situation.

I live in North Carolina, as did my Mother.

I need information concerning my deceased mother's inheritance. I am the sole heir to her mineral rights in Panola County, Tx. This is what I know about the property, thus far. It is located on +/- 30 acres in Panola County, J. McAdams Survey, A-422. The number 45088 is stamped on the document. It is a lease with Costilla Energy Co. dated 8/14/1997. I believe it was a lease for 10 years. My mother's interest was 1/6.

I have searched the unclaimed property sites, nothing is there. I don't know the name of the wells (if any) or status of such well. I've tried to locate the operator (if there is one) or former operators to no avail.

Would the name of the lease be "Edens"? That was the name of my Aunt's husband. Her probated will (recorded in N.C. and in Panola county) gave my Mother her mineral rights. This is quite confusing to me.

I don't know what to do with this information. Any information is most appreciated. Thank you!

Nancy,

I have checked the names of the operators that have wells(plugged oil and gas or producing wells) in Panola County and do not find an operator by the name of of Costilla Energy Co.

Well # 37193-gas well-drilled in 2008-A C Exploration, LLC

Well # 34509-oil well-drilled in 2000-Strand Energy, L.C.

Well # 31614-gas well-drilled in 1984-Wessely Energy Corp

Well # 31607-gas well-drilled in 1984-Wessely Energy Corp

Well # 36684-gas well-drilled in 2007-Goodrich Petroleum Co.

Well # 31202-oil well-drilled in 1980-Seagull Intl.Expl. Co.,Inc.

Well # 32667-oil well-drilled in 1992-Fortson Oil Co.

These are wells that are possibly still producing today.

Am including a link to Texas Railroad commission Approved Operators Oil and Gas Directory--Operator Contact Information:

Also including a GIS Map of your Panola County A-422

Nancy,

I do find the name of Costilla Energy in Texas Drilling in Panola County but no contact information:

They are a company based in Midland, Texas.

Thanks, someone just told me that Costilla Energy is no longer there.Somehow, via mergers/acquisitions/or sales, a company named XLT (sp?) is involved. I checked the Texas RR site, and I can't seem to find anything that gives me additional information. In 2007, my aunt mentioned something about Sarah Exploration, but there's not much information on that company, either. I'd like to know what I should do with these mineral rights and to ensure that I stay informed on my responsibilities of ownership. I'd hate to think that after all these years, something adverse happened because I was not aware.

Thanks!

Thanks! Do you think they would still have information on the lease? How do I find out what the lease number is?

I've looked at some sites and they require a lease number and/or the well number to gain further information. I haven't a clue what the well number might be.

Thanks for the information!

Clint,

It appears that (please correct me if I'm wrong) there are no current/existing leases/drilling permits on this property. Is there anything that I can do to find out more information? On the website, the current status of the well was blurred out for non-subscribers.

Thanks!

Nancy,

When you click on this link scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Contact and send your questions directly to the Texas Railroad Commission(They oversee all Oil and Gas operations in Texas). They have been very helpful to me in the past.
