You do not need an attorney in the area, you can use an attorney board certified for the state that lives anywhere. Most work is done by email anyway, If no one answers, go to the NM Bar Association website and look for those who specialize in oil and gas. You may have to call several before finding someone that does not have a conflict of interest with an oil company in the area.
