Hi everyone! Just want to start off by saying thank you so much for taking the time to read this as i am very lost.
Ok, so my wifes grandmother wants to transfer her mineral rigths to my wife and i honestly have no idea where to begin. Most, if not all, of the paper work we have found is from Oklahoma Mineral Owner Registry. I called them to see if they could help us and they pretty much brushed us off and told us to get an attorney. Does anyone know of an attorney who can help us with this? Or direct us to a place to get help? This has been in her family for generations and we want to get this transferred asap. any help or info is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ryan Hackett
I live in Texas. Used Tim Dowd at Elias, Books, Brown and Nelson in Oklahoma City. Was very pleased! Their number is 405 232-3722. He was recommended highly by NARO. You could check with them.
Thank you! I’ll give him a call tomorrow!!
Ryan: Before you get an attorney in to it, which will likely cost you much more than he is worth, go to the county seat of the county in which they are located and check out the legal records to see if her Grandmother's mineral rights are recorded or check your county records on the internet which is easier. You will need section, Township and Range numbers of the property and you can look them up on Oklahoma ROAM site which covers all that is on record . Google it and get the Internet site address. If they are recorded, which will show on the internet site, print out a copy of it and have her Grandmother sign a mineral deed transferring them to you and your wife and file it on the count records. Bingo the mineral rights would be yours. If you need a blank deed to accomplish the transfer, you can get that on a internet site free, just google it. I am filing a suit now in Oklahoma related to the same type of problem also. No Lawyer needed. If you have any problems or need any additional information. Let me know. Jack at equity25@aol.com
