NDIC GIS Map

To Anyone,

I have questions that I’m not finding the answer to.

On the NDIC GIS Map, when you click on the “Drilling/Spacing” icon and then Bakken, then 1280 spacing, why are some of the spacing units colored in Pink and some colored in Blue? Also, why do some of the numbers posted have a C in front of them? I’m guessing the numbers they list are from the dockets.

The legend on the GIS Map is limited or is there some place that I can find this data on?

Thanks,

Susan

I’m sorry that I can’t answer your question accurately, but I suggest that you either call or email the NDIC to get the answer. During the past few years, I have contacted this agency with various questions and their response is very prompt.

Where do I go to find this map? What is on there?

Hi Nancy,

https://www.dmr.nd.gov/oilgas/ this is the NDIC website. From here, on the left side of the page, you click on the GIS Map Server icon.

Then click on “find a section” and post your land description. To give a sample of the “pink/blue” spacings that I refer to, here is a land description to post T148/R95/S15.

On the right side of the map page, there are icons to click. I clicked on Drilling/Spacing - then Bakken - then 1280. I clicked both the circle and square beside the 1280 and it pulls up the colors to show where there are spacings for permit through the state.

I have the $50 basic subscription, so I am unaware if a person that doesn’t, would be able to access this info.

I like having the subscription, but have trouble finding how to utilize all the bells and whistles. I do use it for other things that I enjoy researching.

I haven’t called the NDIC for my answer, as Charles suggested; but I probably will at some point when curiosity gets the best of me.

Hope this gets you to seeing what I see.

Susan
