I inherited 7 net mineral acres in Ellis County, in sec.34-17N-23W. I have received three unsolicited offers to buy my mineral rights in the last year. I have not seen any indication of activity in the immediate area. The last expression of interest resulted in us signing a 3-year lease over 6 years ago, and nothing came of that. I’d be happy to hear any ideas about future development in this area.

The area is receiving increased interest in the Cherokee formation for horizontal drilling. Mewbourne just spud the Old Glory 16/28 AP 1H well to the north of you. Rockies Resources has a Multi unit Horizontal case pending for a well in the SW quarter going into 16N-23W. If your acreage is in the SW4 you may be getting a new well.
Can you recommend sites where you look for this information to see what is upcoming and info about formations? Is it the permit info on the state commerce sites or something different?
I use the OCC and OTC tax site and various other subscriptions that I pay for. The permits are listed on the OCC well records site and tell the formations of interest.
