MT equivalent to NDRIN

Hi,

Does anyone know if Montana has an equivalent to the NDRIN available?

I googled it and found many MT government sites, but nothing like NDRIN.

Susan

Snues, I didn't see an NDRIN equivalent but I did see something that may be of interest to someone, GIS parcel cadastral mapping, where you could mouse over the map and see the owner of record.

ND would likely not have the NDRIN if not for a FEMA grant to update and provide a database free from natural disaster with electronically backed up records. I think they only went forward, or only back a few years from the time that electronic records started being kept. I think also that some much requested documents from the more distant past such as my great grandfathers probate have been made available electronically, but it's rare. Possibly Mt. didn't have their hand out when FEMA came around.

Hi Robert,

Thanks. I'm only guessing that the floods from the Red River that wiped out most of Grand Forks in 1997, and continue to plague the Fargo area, most springs; could be how FEMA got involved with ND for records. The Grand Forks court house was near the river, and possibly that is why GF records within the NDRIN were not posted for some time, even when the rest of the counties had done so.

I went to the MT maps that you spoke of, in the Dawson County MT group. I could see the wells and names of wells and production amounts etc. I'm not sure if that would be the same site to use the GIS parcel cadastral mapping, to see the owner of record. I will check and see what I find, if its not at that site, do you have the URL for it?

Thanks,

Susan

Snues the GIS cadastral map was just a choice in a menue of several options that came up when I was searching online Mt records, along with criminal backgrounds and a whole laundry list of things.

I just searched "Mt gis cadastral" and it came up on bing. gis.mt.gov was the first choice and took me straight there. Now I have to figure out how all the goodies work.

Snues, I think you hit the nail on the head, the flood last spring was no slouch either.
