I have 66+ acres of mineral rights in Montezuma & Dolores counties in Colorado. I know it is not much but, I know nothing about what it is worth, should I keep it, sell it, forget it.
Currently it is being leased by Bill Barrett Corp out of Denver, CO. I looked in the forums for each county and saw no activity going on as far as any discussions, so thought I might start here. I once spoke to a Land Man on here, named Gary Hutchinson, who was assisting me and then I received no more correspondence from him, maybe he no longer does any advisories, not sure.
My current lease was up last Aug 2013 and no new lease has been offered or any news from the company at all. I did receive a royalty check for only $33.35 for a shut-in payment. I did not cash the check though as I did not know if it would commit me to something I did not understand. I do not even know if I still have a valid lease with them or not, as I did not sign an extension nor draw up a new one when the other expired in 2013.
I do not know where to turn and I am a disabled Vietnam veteran without the income to afford attorneys to look into this and if it is in my best interest, at my age, to just sell it off.
So call me clueless, as that is where I stand. Any assistance or advice would be deeply appreciated.
Respectfully,
Kevan Lyman
