Can anyone provide any information on this company that is leasing up minerals in Beaver County, OK?
I don't see that exact name registered in the state or on any deeds in Beaver County.

They appear to be out of Montana.
The company is out of Great Falls, MT. I signed a lease with them ( using an attorney in Enid, OK. ) on a quarter of land in Beaver, county ( SE/4 S14 T4N R23 ECM ) about 60 days ago. I also signed a 60 day option on the lease. There 60 days are up and I tried to call and the phones are temporarily been disconnected. Is this a cause for concern and should I get with my attorney? I heard that several folks in the county have signed a lease with these same folks. I also heard from an local attorney that the leases have been turned over to Cabot Oil & Gas out of Houston, TX. Is this a common practice? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
I would like to add that my first contact with Montex was from Montex Resources, L.L.C. in Fort Worth, TX. and they setup my meeting with Montex Oil & Gas Inc.
Yes I would grab my lawyer if the option time has expired, their phone service is disconnected and someone has your executed lease. File an affidavit of non-payment. If they still want to lease you and you agree they can always pay you and have you sign a ratification or new lease. The affidavit of non-payment is just for your protection and to prevent whoever has your lease from assigning it for profit to someone else and embroiling you in a multi-party lawsuit. At this moment, how would anyone know that you have not been paid and that your lease is not a valid lease?

The official date for the 60 day option to expire is 8/05/2013. At this time my lawyer and myself know that I have not been paid. Filing an affidavit for non-payment is a good idea, after the expiration date. I should have been suspicious when Montex Resources, L.L.C. out of Fort Worth, TX. called me and setup the meeting in Beaver with Montex Oil & Gas, Inc. out of Great Falls, MT. I have a feeling that they are lease hounds that had every intention of selling the lease to someone else for a profit. I will keep everyone updated on the progress of this situation as the story unfolds, so no one else gets scammed!

Jon:
These guys showed up in Fayette County Texas just about a year ago. There was a lot of research that took place to try and find out just who these guys really were since the Google searches didn't give us much help. Finally one of the local guys traced the company back to an attorney out of Fort Worth that evidently was a front man for a bunch of companies.
First there was just one Landman and then there were at least two landmen that I know of. They jumped into an area that had been seeing lots of leasing activity in surrounding parts of the county and many if not most of the mineral owners had already been leased or had been inoculated against the land man fever. Their first lease offers were pitiful and then they tried to shift gears and talk about long term deals at higher bonus rates and royalties. I don't really know if they ever roped and tied anyone since the word got out pretty quickly that they were nothing more than flippers that were just like a dozen others we had seen in the county over the last three years.
Finally, they just folded up their bags and left. Thank the lord for small favors!
