We have mineral rights in the following:

Toole, MT

Sheridan, MT

Daniels, MT

Roosevelt, MT

Does anybody have any suggestion on websites to find out who is drilling in these areas to see if they are interested in leasing our mineral rights? Is anybody familiar with who is currently leasing in this area? Thank you!

Where are your minerals located in Roosevelt and Sheridan counties? The location is a major factor at the present time as the drilling activity is not widespread in either county. A few companies such as Continental Resources, Oasis Petroleum, XTO and Marathon has drilled in these areas. It was reported that Samson Resources had sold their holdings in Sheridan and possibly Roosevelt Counties to Taurus Petroleum but not sure if the deal was ever finalized. Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the Daniels and Toole county areas. If you are located in an area currently being developed, a landman will most likely contact you from record research at the County Clerk's office.

Jamie go to www.bogc.dnrc.mt.gov/ it's the official state site.

Click on "Webmapper"

When the map is up, move the "+" icon over to NE Montana and click a couple times to zoom in where you read the Township & Range numbers. Then continue to zoom in on the area over your minerals.

When you're zoomed in where you can spot your specific area, look on top of the map and click on the "I" icon.

This changes it so you can identify individual wells. The wells are shown as black dots. Move the cursor over a well and click. The name of the well and the operating company's name will be shown. If you're unfamiliar with these maps you may need to play with it awhile to get the hang of it. Hope this helps.

Hi Wade - The article you sent me was very informative as well as the webmapper resource to look up the companies drilling in or near where our mineral rights are located.

Another question, does anybody know of any online resources to find what other people are leasing their mineral rights in surrounding areas as where our mineral rights are located? We have a fabulous website that we use for our North Dakota minerals that shows what other people are leasing their mineral rights for. Does anybody know of something similar for the Montana mineral leases?

You mentioned a website (ND) that shows what other's are leasing their mineral for. I am not familiar with this website. I am familiar with the State Auction site which shows what companies paid for a particular tract (bid process) but not individual deals. If you would be willing to share that website, please do. Thanks.
