Mitsui Frac Lake Update With Photos - 1/17/2026

Frac lake is full…25 feet of water! Pump and temporary water lines are in place to carry water to the wellsite. Lipsey frac job should be starting soon.

How many different water wells do they have supplying water for the lake?

They initially drilled one well right next to the lake. After a few weeks, they drilled another well about a quarter mile away. I assume the second well was drilled in a location that would be beneficial for the landowner.

The lake is full now, so the wells are inactive.

Your updates are greatly valued and are of tremendous interest. Is it to be assumed that the Whitaker 1H well has now been frac’d? Thank you again for your posts.

Thanks, Anthony! Yes, I presume that the Whitaker has been frac’d, but I have no way to confirm that as the pad is on top of a hill and not visible from the road.

Alan - I second Anthony. Your updates are really helpful.

Would fracing be considered “completion” of a well, such that the operator would file a completion report with the RRC? Or would that require actual production and sale of the gas?

My interest is in Mitsui’s Baker well.

Frac’ing is required for well completion, but it isn’t the conclusion. The flow back process starts once the frac job is finished. At some point, the operator will do a 24-hour production test and a completion report will be filed once that is done. The operator may or may not install production tubing before production starts.

Mitsui has had problems with the Baker well. The rig is still on site, and it has been there since October 3. I’ve heard rumors of a casing issue, but I don’t have any facts to report.

A crane was visible on the Lipsey pad today. Lots of pickup truck activity around the pad. No pump trucks yet, but it looks like frac job will start sometime this week.

Hopefully if it is a casing issue on the Baker well, it’s of the kind that can be repaired and won’t require abandonment of any of the well already-drilled.

Thank you!
