Has anyone heard what problems Mitsui has encountered drilling this well? The rig has been on site since October 3, 2025.
My understanding is MEP has one well that has a casing leak that must be remedied before fracturing. Not sure if it is the well you are asking about.
Alan, they went too deep on the first lateral and realized they were not in the “zone”. Had to back out seal that lateral and go back in and found the zone they were looking for. I believe lateral was permitted for 8500’ they stopped at 6500’. I was told there was a fault line they did not want to take a chance on of getting into. Reason for stopping at 6500’. Drilling has been complete almost a week. In process of removing equipment and rig now. Possibly frac after fracking is complete of Lipsey wells.
Good info! Thanks for sharing!
Update on the Baker well —
I took a drive by the Baker well yesterday and was sort of surprised when I saw it. The site was completely shut down. The rig is completely gone, and so are most all of the buildings, port-a-pottys, trucks, equipment, etc. I couldn’t see anyone there - working or otherwise, but the gates were all open.
Not sure what a site looks like between drilling and fracing. Is this just a transition phase with a new stage starting soon? It sort of looks like a ghost town where there used to be a small city, but I guess this is progress. Does these photos provide any info?
The good news is I can see one portable frac tank immediately ahead in the first photo, plus at least three more at the back right in the same photo. Doesn’t mean that a future frac job is assured, but it does at least suggest it is possible.
My assumption is that a frac job would be done by the same crew that has just begun the frac job on the two Lipsey wells.
