I inherited property and minerals and was finally ready to delve into unfamiliar territory to sell them. Luckily, one of the first sites I found was this one, the Mineral Rights Forum. I have had the pleasure of meeting so, so many helpful and patient individuals through this site. I can't stress enough how people were generous with their time and knowledge; a big difference from the folks I was talking with before finding this forum!
I want to click "Like" on this! I am in the same boat as you, and can not agree more!
OK, now some of us who have been on here a while have got to live up to all these kind words! Be sure to join your county group(s) on this forum. Sharene, this link is to an Oklahoma Corporation Commission publication which may answer some of your questions and help you decide what else you need to know. Check out this 38 page document "Basic Information for the Oklahoma Royalty Owners" for download at http://digitalprairie.ok.gov/cdm/ref/collection/stgovpub/id/241683 .
Another resource is the National Royalty Owners Association (NARO). http://www.naro-us.org/ My wife and I have been members since 2008 and attend our state conference each year. There are several state or regional chapters (more are being developed as mineral rights owners realize the need to speak with a unified voice), so check the videos, unclaimed property instructions, and so much more. Remember, there are no "dumb" questions about this complex business you are in.
Also, if you’re just beginning in the oil business there’s a ton of U-tube clips showing how they frack, etc. There may be some good one’s still on the forum too!!
You might find this interesting, too! http://mapview-logan.com Just change whatever County you’re in!!
