Hello - I’m searching family mineral interests and have found my great-grandmother’s name in the MOEA database. When I click on the order number and it takes me to the OCC Imaging database, there is a pooling application by Steve Nail from 2012. My great-grandmother is listed as deceased with ‘address unknown.’ How do I claim the funds shown in the MOEA Search? If I go to the Oklahoma Unclaimed Property website, there are a lot of ‘Anna Davis’ listed with no specifics - how do I know which one is hers? Thank you for any guidance.
You might try calling the Pottawatie County Clerk’s Office and see if they can help you with finding a last address for her in tax records or deeds. Are there any relatives that might have had it? What is the case number on the application? If the company is still in business, you might call them and see why they thought she had minerals. You may have to hunt with a husband’s name or her parent’s names as well. You can only claim funds if you (and any other heirs) can prove your title. You may have to probate wills or file affidavits of heirship.

I believe I have the documents to show minerals ownership - I have the deed transfer from my great-grandmother to my grandmother, the Aff of Heirship from grandmother to grandfather, Aff of Heirship from grandfather to father, and then probate of my father’s estate. I contacted the Unclaimed Property Division, and they said none of the unclaimed properties matched the amount reported in the MOEA and said it was possible that MOEA hadn’t yet transferred it to them. I think I can open a claim and at least get it started.
M_Barnes, the case no. for the pooling order is 201201310. I’m unfamiliar with the process of the Mineral Owners Escrow Account - it looks like the operator holds onto the funds, but reports them to the MOEA? I haven’t had any luck in the past with contacting the operator, Steve Nail dba Nail Oil and Gas, but will continue to do so if that’s where I need to go.
201201310 was a pooling to drill the Sherri 2 well in SW4 NE4 of 30-7N-4E. The original well Sherri 1 was drilled back in 1982. https://imaging.occ.ok.gov/AP/Orders/0302534A.pdf. Look at the end of the case pdf and you will find three Davis names. See if those ring a bell or were related to Anna Davis.
The well was drilled in 2014. Not a great well. But it has produced oil up at least until March last year. The AFE is 35-125-21624. The Operator is listed as Steven Nail DBA Nail Oil & Gas on the OK tax roles. Don’t get too excited, as the well only produced 7817 bbls of oil (or so). Oklahoma Petroleum Allies was the reporting company, so that may give you another piece of data as they may have an updated contact infor for Nail.
That at least points to ownership in that part of the section.
There are quite a few wells that have been drilled in the section over the years. https://imaging.occ.ok.gov/imaging/OGWellRecords.aspx. You can search by putting in 3007N04E in the location box and get a list of all of them. Here is a partial list with operators that had last production from 2014-2021. You might start with them. Their contact information is on the completion reports Form 1002A. You may have more than one well.
In general, an operator will attempt to contact all mineral owners in a spacing. If they cannot find them, they will pool them and business goes on as usual. They will hold the pooling bonus and any royalties for about 4-7 years (depends upon the state) and then turn it over to the state. The MOEA may not be the official repository. That is more of a convenience list. I usually check both the MOEA and the state treasurer for unclaimed funds.
