Hello Donald,
Not aware of any relatives in your area. I recently heard of the leasing in the county. Wanted to get more educated on this. Didn’t know who to speak to regarding this. I noticed a Rick Price in the comment area. Thanks!

No leases being signed at this point in Meigs County. Athens County recorded over 400. Cunningham Energy has until March 15 to pay or walk away. 2,500 acres. Meigs is waiting to see what happens there. Several land groups forming, but I’m waiting to get more info before signing with any of them. I believe Rick Price is signed on with southernohioenergyconsultantsllc.com. If you are interested in signing up, check out their website. You can print a form and sign up.
Donald, spoke to Rick Price in Meigs County. Will notify other owners.
Thanks again!
Hi, just a quick comment. Seems Athens County leases with Cunningham Energy is falling apart. (No surprise) Also see they are offering them 16.5% instead of 16% if they hold on until they get another deal put together with another company. Just a comment on royalties from gas and oil production. The government has directed the Sec. of Energy to notify the oil and gas companies that further leases on government land will be at 18.75%. I think that should carry through to the private land owners. Something to think about before you lease.
Here an interesting read on what might be about Cunningham Energy…
and this, ignoring the anti-frack stuff, just note the Cunningham antics:
I’m sure this happens, but it is not the case here. You can’t fix stupid, but intelligence wins every time.
http://www.shalegasinsiders.com/ I would recommend this site for reading the latest news for southern Ohio leasing and drilling. It will keep you updated on the latest lease bonus and royalty payments in your area. A good lease starts with being informed.
Youngstown News, Energy companies commit to $900M project in Columbiana, Harri This is big news for Ohio, and the oil and gas rich areas of Southeast Ohio. Meigs County will benefit from this as well. My opinion is this will increase your land lease value.

Anyone know if Cunningham paid out on the Athens County leases arranged by Lavelle? March 15th was to be the payout date. Also, simply set up a Google Alert for Ohio+Utica+Shale and you will get a daily alert of any new articles…
Have not heard, but I would doubt it. I would think the land owners would be better off if they walk away from this deal. Better deals in the future.
Why is things so quiet on the Athens County lease payout? We need to keep people informed.
I have a question. Need information for Meigs County. Has anyone signed a lease with a major oil/gas company, in the Point Pleasant, or Utica Shale formation, in Meigs County? Need to get the information out.
UPDATE: BP Enters Lease for 84,000 Acres in Trumbull - WKBN - 27 First News - Will this happen in Meigs County?
Probably not for about 18 months or so unless a smaller company steps in to buy, the thickness here is about 50ft deep with an organic content between .05 to 1%, but it is between 5000 to 6000 ft deep which is the good news, it puts us directly in the wet gas sweet spot.
Yes Rick I think you are right, unless one of the larger companies feels they have to make a move before they get left out. Seems everyone wants a piece of the action. After studying the maps, I believe the O/G companies will want larger acreage in Meigs County because of the thickness. They need more well pads, more laterals to get the production. I think if a smaller co. would lease, they would sell their leases to a larger co. in the end. I would not want to lease to a small co. such as Cunningham exc. That is unless they would come up with the right lease and money. Which I doubt they would.
What does the group think about the latest ODNR map which excludes Meigs, Gallia and Athens from the Utica footprint?

That map just shows the believed core production of the play, but it still comes through Athens and Meigs, it may just take a little longer to get activity here.
