Three of us own mineral rights (9 mineral acres) in McKenzie County. We made a deal with Diamond Resources which expired October 2011. Have called and learned that wells have been drilled but am unable to find out if they are producing. How can I find out more?
We have rights in SD and have the same issues. Please share with me any info you discover
Best wishes,

Can you provide additional information such as the Township/Range/Section where your minerals are located? Also, is your information properly recorded at the County Clerk's Office in McKinzie County?
Google NORTH DAKOTA OIL AND GAS COMMISSION. Click on the well search link and enter your Township/Range/Section information. It will show any wells and their status.
I will second what mr. Mallory says, if you give the twp/range/section, it's a matter of seconds to look it up.

Land is in McKenzie County Township 153N, range 94W of 5th, Section 14 North 1/2 SW 1/4, SE 1/4, SW 1/4
I did google ND oil and gas and didn't find anything there. Diamond Resources said that Continental has drilled 2 wells.
I have no idea if my information is properly recorded at the County Clerk's office.

I tried to access the GIS Map on the NDIC website but it is still down. Be sure to follow up on the County Clerk matter as this is extremely important that your correct info is properly recorded. Maybe the map will be available later today.

It appears that two laterals impact your Section 14; Continental Resources operates both wells; wells are the Antelope 4-23H and the Bohmbach 3-35H. Current status is "Drl" which means drilling or completion work (fracking, etc.). Again, check your records on your end and make sure all information is correct and properly recorded.
Thank you for that and thank you for having this forum available!

My suggestion is to pay for the basic service which is only 50.00 a year. This will allow you to see production data, well files etc. I checked your section. It is in a 1280 drill spacing (Section 14/23) and you have two horizontal wells drilled from section 23 into your section. Antelop 3-23H (API#21488 Spud Date 10/01/2011) shows a verbal approval to purchase and transport of oil dated and approved on 7/19/2012. Antelope 4-23H (API#21489 Spud Date 9/28/2011) shows a verbal approval to purchase and transport oil dated and approved on 7/19/2012.
There are two more confidential wells Antelope 1-23H (API#22820) and Antelope 2-23H (API#22821). Both appear that they will drill into section 14. There is no information release date listed on the confidential list. Normally wells are off confidential status 6 months after the request for status is made.
There is two producing wells, and there could be two more soon!
Wells without release dates on the confidential list usually are not drilled yet, may never be drilled. You have to remember that every permit is a confidential well and permits only cost $100, that's 8 cents an acre for a 1280 per permit.
thanks. I wonder who gave them the verbal approval since it was us! Another call to Diamond is on the schedule for today as well as the call to the county.

E. Mottur, the state gives permission to move oil when it is sold. The wells generally produce more when they are new, sometimes enough that they need to get it sold and on it's way. I think first sales and permission to move the first production is usually on verbal basis backed by paperwork later. The state does keep track, the state gets 11.5% production and severance off the top and they want their money.
