Massive New Untapped Oil Reserves in Woodford and Barnett Shales

Tough question to answer… partially because I am not a geologist lol. I know the Woodford in the Anadarko Basin is geologically complex. Would be interesting to get a paleo opinion of Delaware vs. Woodford as it relates to depositional environment and basin formation. Shale companies want repeatability. Only so much tolerance for expensive, exploratory wells that don’t prove the concept of repetition.

If you own minerals, shouldn’t they be reviewed by a consultant geologist at some point? Anything less seems like malpractice.

The dry hole next door was expensive. Failed. Current value 215k I guess that’s casing and surface equipment sell value.

Weld County just keeps on going.

Anything can be good if there is a trap for petroleum. Only way to know is drill it. Get your share upfront. You are not an insurance company.

Sotexnrg your post is excellent. What a gift that Permian is.

The Woodford, by itself, is too thin on this side of the basin. The areas where these wells tend to be pretty good are where the Mississippian lime is absent and the Barnett and Woodford exist as a continuous shale.
