my mother in law owns the mineral, oil/coal, for 203 acres. how do i find out if there is any activity or interest?
Go here: http://apps.dep.wv.gov/oog/permitsearch_new.cfm and put in Mason as the county. Add dates to make it recent.
That won't tell you bonus amounts offered but will show you companies.
thank you. i’m new to this search and not sure how to proceed. my mother ln law sent me her paid receipt for her parcel and i don’t know how to find out if anything is happening or any interest. i only have a parcel number to go on.
If you go to this site http://www.dep.wv.gov/oil-and-gas/databaseinfo/Pages/OGD.aspx you can choose Search for Oil and Gas Wells or Search for Oil and Gas Permits. If you want to see what wells are operating you can choose Search for Oil and Gas Wells. When you get to that screen, select Mason as the county, and put in some dates. Try 01/01/2008 to 07/23/2011 and you will get the recent wells. When you get to the screen displayed with that search, you can click on the well numbers displayed in blue. This will give you information about the wells, the operators, what production has been reported through 2009 and maybe 2010.
If you want to see where these wells are, go to this site: http://gis.dep.wv.gov/mapping/oog/oog.html which is still part of the WV Dept. of Environmental Protection Office of Oil and Gas
You can put in the well numbers you found on the well search page. This goes in the upper left corner where it says API and will start with 053- which is the prefix for Mason County. This shows the well on a map.
Another website for finding locations of wells once you have permit numbers is this:
http://www.wvgs.wvnet.edu/oginfo/pipeline/pipeline2.asp
Here you choose Mason as the county and add the well number (with the first two zeroes). This map is easier for me to use.
If you are familiar with the geography of Mason county you can move around on the map to see where your Mother in law's property is and see how close she is to any wells.
Hello Wayne: Did you ever get your answers? I own rights in Mason Co. too and wondering what activity might be going on there in 2012?
