Anyone getting offers recently in Love County and does anyone know of any horizontal drilling going on in the county of late?
PLEASE FOLKS!! I understand the excitement of your possible windfall of "found money" and I realize all the freedoms and possibilities that may be provided to you by these, but before you make YOUR decision please watch the documentary "Gas Land"..…
Thank You
Dana, Liz (Thomas) Harris, here. I have several mineral tracts I share on halves with Judy. About a year ago, we were offered a lease by R.D. DAVIS in OKC. They sent a CLOWN named Kilpatrick to sign a lease in S4, T6S, R2W. He gave us collection notes EACH for over $3,000, got our signatures notarized, then promised to EXPEDITE things. After calling and looking for him, he finally met to pay me at American National on Commerce, but with a check for under $500 instead of what I agreed to in writing. I spoke to the Corporation Commission who suggested I speak to somebody at R.D. Davis. I called and was SHOUTED DOWN by a lackey the answered the phone. At that point, after preparing to report R.D. Davis to the OCAPL and AAPL on ethics violations, I spoke to one of the Davises. He ASSURED me that they did not accept that type of unethical behavior in their company. He NEVER returned a call, but weeks later, a check for $39.06 was sent to my address by R.D. Davis. It was almost a slap in the face. I never cashed it. I had agreed and signed (notarized) for over $3,000. Today, I received an offer to purchase those minerals by a company. I discard these offers, but I noticed they listed it as LEASED by R.D. Davis. I never agreed to the later lease nor did I receive a CENT from them, only to be sent a $39 check. I have ALL those papers as does my sister, yet we were never sent a copy of the voided lease we were led to sign in error. I pulled up those documents online (okcountyrecords.com) and much to my surprise, R.D. Davis NOT ONLY RECORDED ME AS HAVING LEASED TO THEM, BUT AS "ABANDONMENT OF LEASE". Now, tonight, from my point of view, I have only ONE choice. A HUGE lawsuit. One that will teach them not to file false documents, lie and promise amounts to mineral owners, then renege on the amount. All in all, the oilfield is booming. There are lots of reputable agents and brokers. But if R.D. Davis sends you some paperwork, I would think twice. Tomorrow, my first call is to the Corporation Commission. My second is to an attorney. Good Luck with your minerals. Liz
Hi, Liz! Oh, I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. I have been a Land Manager for a family oil & gas business in this area, as well as for my family's interests for over 20 years, now. I have never heard of such nonsense as you have gone through. I often want to get a feel for what is going on in the area and unless people, like you, share I cannot know what the going rates for leases are in the area. I do a tremendous amount of research and have worked with most of the land companies in Oklahoma. Before people lease, I hope that they will contact someone like me to be their agent. I will begin working part-time as I am semi-retiring from the company I have been with for 21 years. You may reach me via email at: wilsondanar@sbcglobal.net. I am now Dana Capshaw, but have not changed the myriad of items needed to reflect my married name, now. I just haven't had the time to do it all! Nice to reconnect!
Great! Thank you for letting me know. Congrats, Dana. Have a great Day. Liz
