Logan County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Vern James, the “structure” of the Keystone pipeline is what has been constructed already, between Cushing Oklahoma and Port Arthur Texas, with a teeny branch going from Port Arthur to Houston refineries. This refinery branch, in my opinion, is nothing more3 that blowing of smoke up environmentalists chimneys to help keep them quiet, nothing more. It is all political. Obama made a trip to Cushing, OK April of LAST year, 2012, and in a speech carefully worded and on public Live TV, issued a Presidential order to BUILD THE SOUTHERN PART of the Keystone, and he said to GET IT DONE NOW, and he turned to money loose to do it. He said to "Start it tomorrow…) that was 17 monthhs ago, and it did start, and now, 17 months later it is completed. We have the Keystone Pipeline at this very minute. But Canada does not have their part of the Keystone, and they never will in my opinion. We keep hearing this very day that “…if only Congress will let the Keystone pipeline be built…” but that is a big SNOW JOB, as far as Oklahoma and we are concerned it is already completed. I note that under the old (antiquated) method of measuring and holding tanks and allah that outdated stuff, 1 to 2 percent error was the norm. That is not acceptable today. We want, and are capable of, zero, yest zero percenty error. But we can not and will not used the technology of 1995 or of 2001, or of 2010, it is a whole new deal today, and the best and most reliable holding areas today are just to leave it where it is until it is ready to flow through the pipeline. Holding tanks are a thing of the past, because of new technology. We are the very best at what we do in the USA, there is no equal, and there is no room for error, and there is no need for useless equipment that only added to the problems in the past. Margins of error are NOT permitted or allowed in todays technology. It is ZERO tolerence in the USA.

they were asking about errors at the, well head, not from transport hub, basics are,oil is trucked, off, each wellheads location tanks, to a local oil dump or depot ,then piped to the ,transport, hub in cushing, therfore you need tanks for short storage at the wellhead ,the purchase or sale of product occurs on each wellhead location, before he accepts, the trucker must check the ,quaility,of the oil before he will transport it off the wellhead location tanks, oil is not put directly into the pipeline, from well head for this reason, gas is piped and sold from wellhead meter run,if there are more the 1 well,to a different, legal section, each well has seprate oil tanks and gas meter run, basic quality control stuff

They will just keep it flowing, directly through several pumping stations and into the holds of the new class of Super Tankers at Port Arthur. Some, but little, will be used to ease our burden on OPEC strangle holds on our economy, but most of it to European stability. This is why Canada wants in so bad, and it is a mistake to think Obama does not know what he is doing. He is, among other things I do not necessarily support, one of the most brilliant and educated persons on the planet, and certainly the most brilliant President ever. He is totally responsible for the Cushing extension to the Keystone Pipeline, and that is a fact. No government financial support? Yeh, right.

Comment by [Mineral ](http://www.mineralrightsforum.com/xn/detail/u_1mn8fnnpidtf1)Look for the Production Revenue Standards Act. More specifically around 52 O.S., 570.10(B)(1)(b) & (D)(1)

This act, 168 in particular, which has the intent of correcting policies raised by 160, is actually mor full of loopholes than its predicessor. While it does indicate a recommended requirement of 6 months from first sale, pinpointing the time element, who will be responsible and how they will be held responsible if it is not met. There are just too many easy outs for royalty payers, and little, if any, remedies for the sellers/royalty owners. There is no clean sweep of past procedures oil companies used, and though the bill took effect July 1 2013, nothing has really changed.

In the case of Ruffed Grouse, I am not certain when the first sale was, I have about 3 different dates, but I really believe this is not really important, the bottom line is no payment will be made to anyone until everything is 100% accurate. The original pooling request and order has so many errors on it that I am sure it has raised more eyebrows than the Dead Sea Scrolls. My belief is that in general, people are reluctant to turn loose of old ideas and policy. Having 30 years experience in anythng means little if that experience is not relevant to current technology. Keep it flowing is going to be the solution around holding tanks and stuff we have traditionally used for years and years. It is all out the window, and educational cirriculams at our Universities are being adjusted even as we speak. Denying possibilities is certain doom for anyone who cannot shake what they thought they knew all these years. It is the nature of all things.

obamas visit to cushing was nothing more than a campaign stunt as the southern part of the pipeline was approved before he showed up, the only part of the pipeline that requires a presidential permit is about 50’ that crosses the Canadian border. afaik the pipeline is not funded or supported in any way by the government

Ron Wilson–this isn’t Cathy but–tell those people in Cushing what to do with their 63+ million bbl. of crude oil when you do away with all the holding tanks.

And meanwhile, violent protests by anti-fracking concerns in contenental Europe gain support all over the continent. It is no accident, some blame Russia, I think it is more likely OPEC, and we should be more wary of the same thing spreading from Pennsylvania to all of the mainland USA. Here in Pennsylvania, it is getting – interesting at the least.

RON I certainly agree with you as in the president is smart enough to fool some of the people all of the time. however this is not a political forum please add me as a friend or opponent if you want to discuss politics in private.

they are just flaring your gas off now for 30-plus days

The oil is usually collected into giant holding tanks on the lease where the well is. Tanker trucks come by periodically and meter the holding tanks, pump oil into the tanker trucks and meter the holding tanks again. Then the tanker trucks haul the oil to the designated collecting point (main one is Cushing). The gas is usually connected to a pipeline right at the wellhead (or occasionally flared until it can be hooked up). Again, it is measured as carefully as possible using the best modern technology available. Sometimes, compressor stations need to be built to pressure up the gas lines. OK has very strict rules about the transportation and metering.

This is an older map of the gas pipelines in the US.

The surface owner receives the seismic payment or possibly sometimes the surface owners tenant. The mineral owner has the right to produce minerals and reasonable right to ingress and egress for the production of minerals but the rest belongs to the surface unless those rights were specifically severed also which is unlikely but possible. In that unlikely event you should find such severance of rights in the deed or sales contract. If the mineral owner granted the right to explore using seismic, that would not bind the surface owner/s if the mineral owner had not reserved the right or purchased the right to conduct seismic survey. In other words, the mineral owner cant grant the rights to something he doesn’t own, seismic permit, water, whatever, no more than I can sell my neighbors house. I hope this helps

RW, you are correct. Although more recently, I have been contacted by seismic companies to give my permission (as a royalty owner) to shoot seismic. I do not get compensation, but I do give permission since I want them to eventually drill. A few years ago, they would just ask the surface owner.

Ok, at the risk of displaying my ignorant side, what I am understanding, is that they pump the oil out, load it into a tank on a 20 Mule Team wagon and then haul it to Cushing, where it is then counted, metered or measured in some way, allowing for a 2 or 3 percent error ($65,000.00 per year?) then held in storage tanks until what? Is this the way it works? I did not know this. And with Ruffed Grouse, 20-17-3, they have been hauling crude since first part of July, or last of July, or a week or so ago? How do they pass gas in that part of the woods…that is, do they pipe gas out or is it trucked as well? I know the railroads are anti-Keystone pipeline from Canada south to Cushing, because they have all of these new oil tank railroad cars ready to go. I guess I just do not understand all that I know about this stuff. LOL But I do know this, everything is new and we can just forget how it has been done for the past 49 years or so.

Compensation is generally offered at $10 an acre, which is what is being offered to me in Garfield County. Devon is doing seismic on an 80 square mile area from the town of Douglas west. (Douglass is East of Enid, a little west of Covington…

This appeared in morning newspaper. Hope they don’t wait till all the water tables are dried up.

Can someone look up Production to date for these wells in 17N-3W?

Harley They are just now reporting for some April production, most of these wells have no production info that I could find . Wolf 65,268 BO & 63,425 MCF

This isn’t Cathy but—holding tanks at the well sight, sometimes called “tank batteries” serve more than one purpose. They also serve residence time for the water and solids to fall out of the crude. The operators employee, sometimes called “a gauger”, takes care of the tank batterie. One of his jobs is to “thief” the tank, gauge to see how much water is in the bottom of the tank, open the water draw and drain off water to make sure the level stays below the oil suction line used to pull oil to fill trucks He also runs some tests to determine how much BS and moisture is still entrained in the crude oil. These tesrs are not something that each oil co. or buyer dreams up. all the tests and procedures are all done exactly the same way and used by everyone. The “lab techs”

This isn’t Cathy but—in the oil industry there is a “lab techs” Bible, it is the A.S.T.M. manual. If I remember correctly that stands for “American Standard Testing Methods”. All oil companies use the same tests and procedures on their products whether it be crude, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel or what-ever. If the product doesn’t meet specs, it isn’t moved. There are tests that are run on raw crude in the oil patch to make sure you are moving crude and not water. I’m sure if there was a better way of doing it, it would have been changed long ago.
