Todd, here is a link that explains Okla Location Exception, I have not read it yet, but my guess is, on the PERMIT TO DRILL there was in INITIAL WELL LOCATION as 200 ft from northernmost boundry, and 2300 feet from the westernmost boundry, but for some reason the operator (driller or whomever) wants an exception, maybe there is a church nearby or too close, or maybe there is a jack rabbits hole at that location, or maybe because it is Tuesday, I don’t know, nearly any reason to request a location exception? I do believe it would apply to the initial well, and if there are Multiple wells approved, then each would have to have a location exception? Anyway, here is the link…
well–amazing and excellent comments. however, the landman for our Pottawatomie lease said by NOT opening our mom’s will the property division will be “intestate”–and both brothers share equally. there are no other family members. but I am still not certain if this is based on that comment “from the four corners of the will” it is not evident person x is disinherited–will we run into problems if a company approaches us in Logan and wants a probate? (which my brother and I have refused to do as he believes we both should share equally-intestate) just trying to get the ducks in order. btw–no drilling in Pottawatomie yet and it is going on two yrs. just having a modicum of intelligence it would seem to me that a company that would be paying large sums of money would want the title proved. and, thanks for the education “you all” have provided me. dr larry (ex Vietnam flight surgeon who is now close to poor–8-))
Incidentally, here is a very good page by the Oklahoma Corp Commission explaining SPACING INFORMATION. This entire website of the OCC explains a whole lot, but you gotta really concentrate on what you are reading. But everything is pretty well defined. Well. Well, yeh…well. I have also found that every little letter or piece of printer ink on these PERMITS and REQUESTS and EXCEPTIONS etc, every letter has a meaning and tells us SOMETHING. But each one would probably drive Mike Hammer wacko, tool. LOL
Mineral Joe,
I didn’t mean that probate or quiet title will clear the property or minerals title. Guess that is what I said, but not what I meant. Guess i should of said, I would feel better know it had been probated and then I would also search the title.
In Texas, we buy title insurance that warrents the title. In some of the other states, you need to do a real good check on the title to make sure it’s clear.
Thanks Ronald and Clint.
The links to the OCC have been very informative for me. Thanks to those that posted them.
For those interested in the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act, here are some links.

I served for more than 34 years in the Army, Air Force and National Guard and have also been regularly briefed on the protection afforded by the law to military members. I also have some differences of opinion in my interpretations of the law from those stated by Ronald Von Wilson.
Vern, I don’t think I did any interpretations of the SOLDIERS-SAILORS RELIEF ACT, I just said it exists, that Bush signed an upgrade protecting Reservists as times warrent, and that it covers many facets of the law. I can see a couple of ways it might be useful to military and their sposes/families in the world of Oil Legal procedings, but I see no reason to use it in any way for myself.
But thanks for these links to SSRA, the first one in particular pretty well defines what I am talking about, My wife is responsible for making certain that everyone in the 111th Aviation BN is kept well informed about this SOLDIERS AND SAILORS RELIEF ACT, and they hold classes regularly to make certain of it. We have not only the fittest army ever, but the most educated army ever. However, some do fall through the cracks, due to sleeping in class, unauthorized absence or just sneaking out for a cigarette. LOL
W1/2 of the SE1/4 and the SE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 15, T15N, Range I East is the legal description.

Thanks for your help.
You need township and range in Hughes Co. Did you understand the map ? The township and range are marked on the outside of the map. The sections are the little squares on the map, they are numbered 1-36. 36 per each township .
Maybe this will work.

3 trillion barrels? This is what it is estimated to be in the Green River Formation, and is a figure that is greater than all of the proven reserves in the entire rest of the world. The Bakken, is flirting with a million a day. But the Mississipian still remains mysterious and mis-understood by our best oil people, they just do not know yet. Right now the best news coming out of this seems to be that any horizontal well drilled here will be active for another 20-40 years. Some think it will be a lot better than the Bakken, but who knows? If anyone does know, they are not saying it yet. With figures like this being discovered every week, I do not think I would be purchasing a new hybrid or electric powered automobile yet. LOL
Does anyone know if there is leasing or drilling activity in Section 15 of this county? Thanks!
