Logan County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

You are right, Kaye, if someone breaks their back crawling over your fence, you will have problems, and the old adage “Possession is 99 percent ownership…” is tossed out by our… judges?

Kaye,

I know some people just throw things together, but I have had several contractors that did that and I fired them on the spot. So far, all the Mexicans I have hired have done wonderful work, but I do stay with them and make sure they are doing what I want and it’s good work. At least they don’t spend most of their time setting up radio and tell me, if you want that steel corner post set, do it yourself. That is what a white guy told me, of course he didn’t make much money off me. The Mexicans I have hired all showed up the 2nd day, better than others I have hired. And if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be getting pipelines across the country or wells drilled. I say, send the welfare people south and bring the workers north. I’m sure there are some that aren’t good, but I usually go through a white contractor and if I don’t like one of them, I tell him, don’t bring that guy back.

As far as the Mexicans are concerned, I do hope you know how things are supposed to be built (so you can catch the mistakes before they end up costing you more than the job is worth) as well as your state’s mandated building codes, etc. Being in the business and seeing firsthand the shoddy-sloppy work they’ve left behind, with no recourse like you would have with a licensed subcontractor/tradesman, can easily end up costing you more in the long run! Better hope too, they don’t happen to have some kind of minor accident on your property (legal or illegal) or your goose may be cooked for they may become the happy new owners!

Brent crude price July 2014 futures top $107 and August 2014 WTI (Cushing price) has a support price at $105. If 2014 Brent oil goes higher than $120.00 the world could enter a recession, but production could be curtailed if WTI goes much lower than $105.00 making price go up again. US refinery costs are dependent on low WTI price. The EIA states; “U.S. crude oil prices are affected mostly by local supply and infrastructure dynamics, refined product prices continue to be driven by international crude oil prices (Brent) and global product markets”. http://www.eia.gov/forecasts/steo/uncertainty/index.cfm

lol Sorry, just couldn’t resist!! Drill baby drill!

Kaye, Thankfully, my home is not shoddy or sloppy, but my desk isn’t clean. LOL! Texas law states that when paid by contract and not by hour, workers can’t claim employee status and sue you. Check out Oklahoma law.

I certainly have no complaints nor have I heard any complaints about Devon so far!! Drill baby drill!

Kaye,

Have they drilled your well yet? They are drilling real close to you, but I wasn’t sure if yours was drilled. Did they renew your lease at the great rate?

Martha, neither is mine and I plan on cleaning off my messy desk, “tomorrow”! lol We call it here Independent Contractors i.e. Sub Contractors bidding jobs, doing piece work that are pretty much on their own, but if something happens OSHA shows up within minutes and at that point everything’s up in the air until they’re done investigating which who knows where the cards are going to fall or who’ll be left holding the bag!

Kunal, Completion report for 15-19N-02W shows 257 BBL/Day and 715 MCF/Day. Devon is the operator.

“Upside frac” - A company can move uphole of any Hz well, cut a window, and drill another lateral, case it and frack it. Cimarex Energy reports “the increase that we’ve seen has been entirely attributable to the upsized fracs. And as a good example of this, we’ve made just tremendous strides on the drilling side in Cana over the last 6 to 9 months.” Click on Corporate update June 2014 http://cimarex.investorroom.com/presentations

V. Guess it all depends upon how you look at the Big Picture to save a buck, but for me I like American made/built, by Americans! In the back-end it’ll always be cheaper!

V. No, haven’t looked lately, but do hope they’re drilling/fracking everything in sight! Are they paying out more than $800 now? Last I heard, was that they’ve already drilled everything to hold all of the leases. I’ll be taking off for business in Ok soon, so maybe, I’ll be able to get over there to check things out and hang out for awhile at the “Cowboy Stop”! lol

Hello group,

does anyone have update on 15-19N-2W? I tried to use OCCE website but doesn’t work with Windows 8 and still learning how to find report.

Thank you in advance.

Kaye, Kunal

There is lots of land that isn’t drilled, so unless they renew the lease, it’s not being held. I have several hundred acres not leased in the Logan area. I haven’t heard what leases are going for in the area.

Regarding immigration, everyone is welcome to come to this country, work, pay taxes, but become an American the right way.

I do buy as much American made stuff as I can find that is quality. Yet when I remodeled my kitchen in town, it looks more like a Germany made kitchen. I just couldn’t find the quality I was looking for in American made. I would prefer to hire whites if they worked, but the Mexicans I hire are US citizens, came in the right way and have done good work for me. Most have been born in this country. Most of us have foreign ancestry, might be several generations back, they had to learn the languages, work and pay taxes. So, I really don’t care what color a person’s skin is, I feel we are equal, but we all need to work and pay our share. I feel sorry for oil companies trying to hire good workers. Drilling is very hard work, long hours plus oil all over a person. We are lucky we have people who will do the work.

I agree with Martha, Virginia has come to my aid many times with answers to my questions. I appreciate her for it.

Virginia, Thank you for helping everyone hundreds of times since October 26, 2011. At times your posts are lively and some may not always agree with you but you are a blessing to this forum, because you are willing to continuously give of your time and effort. There are predictors everywhere wanting mineral owners to believe our minerals are not worth much, because they greatly profit from those who sell them their minerals and lease to them. Your advice and information has helped me and others seek and find the true value of our minerals.

Martha

Thank you so much for giving information. How to find out this kind of report on OCCE web. I tried and it says install jinitiator which doesn’t work with Windows 8.

Thank you again.

I’ve noticed something about the jinitiator that I don’t think is written in any of the instructions: it only works in Internet Explorer.

(I’ve only tried with Chrome and Firefox, but it never will load with either application, so I have to remember to open Explorer when I need to use it.)
