Your personal income tax rate is not in the spreadsheet, not is depletion.
Ronald, Thanks.
m Barnes, thank you for your interesting information. Being a geologist can you determine the life of a Mississippi H oil well making 406 barrels of oil per day in the beginning?
opal, there is a calculator at manta land services. easy to use
try mantra land services calculator
Does someone know how to figure the income of oil and gas if a person owns mineral rights on 10 acres at 3/16 in Logan County, Ok.?
opal, I figure gas at 3.5 mcf and oil at 95.00 per bbl, just a guess
I wonder who cut Township 19N- 02W out of this 2001 Misener Sandstone of Oklahoma Associated with The Nemaha Ridge publishing?

M Barnes,
You have a great way of figure it, except if you live out of state. Oklahoma take 28% off the top of all out of state people, at the end of the year, if you don’t have other income you may be able to get a little back. Except, they take your gross income from all states and that usually puts you in the top OK tax bracket.
One more thing, lots of wells are shut in part of the time for additional drilling on the pad, re-work etc. My theory is, don’t spent the money before you get it and don’t plan on the big checks after a few months.
Martha,
Do you own land in 19N-2W? I own some land in that part also.
V-I am not an expert on the frac’ing side, but I think 300’ is probably an upper limit. I have heard more along the lines of 150’, but it depends on the brittleness of the rocks being frac’d, the amount of pressure being used, the type of sand fill in the slurry, etc. I will do a little more research. A lot of companies are doing interference tests now to see what those limits are.
M-I don’t know anything about the Arbuckle Group in Payne. Let me do a bit of research.
M Barnes, As a former ‘wildcatter’, I highly admire your profession and greatly appreciate your educated input.
Virginia, I do not own the surface, just 40 minerals in Sec 17-19N-01W. Family owns mostly in SE OK, but we have minerals in 4 other states.
Virginia, good points. I also live out of state so get a chunk taken out for OK taxes. Some comes back at the end of the year, but not all. Good point about the wells being shut in sometimes. I see it a lot when they are drilling and frac-ing the multiple wells. Sometimes those first ones have a hard time coming back on after they are shut in.
M Barnes,
I have seen good wells that where drilled first go down to nothing after a couple more wells are drilled in the area and fracked. I think there is a law on the books about this, but almost never can be proven.
It is still my belief that the producers pretty much control the wells it does not work the other way around. There are many reasons production companies want a well not to produce very much, and we see it allah the time. Also, wells are capped for various reasons, not just because they are low producers. It would be naive for anyone to think it is not all controlled from beginning to end. We also want to keep sight on the fact that these wells will produce for 30-40 and even 50 years. One near Bartlesville has been producing for over 100 years, drilled in 1912 and it still goes 6 bod just pumping a couple hours a day.
One reason for low producing wells = they want to buy your mineral rights for a song. Happens allah the time.
Cause CD 201201866 Order 597857 (but there was a later one dismissed)
You can find them on the OCC website. Is this what you needed?
Ann, the letter will come from the attorney of the company that requests the force pooling-usually the operator, but not always.
I never participate in the well-at least not yet. That has a level of risk and monetary investment that I don’t want to do at this point. I do not want to keep sending them checks. I want them to send me checks!
I usually select the option with the lowest bonus and the highest royalty if it will be a horizontal well. I may select that option or the 3/16 option if it is a vertical well. Depends upon the geology and whether I think they will actually drill it or not.
Another consideration in deciding whether you want to participate in a well and be a Working Interest owner is who the operator of the well will be. There are good operators and there are bad operators.
Devon drilled a horizontal lateral into the Woodford from SE SE of Sec 19-19N-01W into NW NE of Sec 20-19N-01W and are now producing within 200’ from me in SE of Sec 17. However, Devon only leased/pooled Sec 19. and I am not even certain this Woodford is present in Sec 19, but I know for sure there are open interests in Sec. 17 and 20 as my 40 is open. Who should I contact at the OCC and what can they do to help?
OCC sends you a document way ahead of time telling you of the date. After the hearing, within about three days, they will send you an election letter. You must answer quickly!! If you don’t answer within the time frame (usually 20 days), they will pick the poorest option for you. You do not need to show up. Make sure they have your correct address.
