OK, got a call from a Steve Goodner of Balboa Productions in Dallas, Texas. He asked me questions to ascertain that I was my mother’s son. Apparently, my stepfather had some interests in Oklahoma. When he passed, they would have gone to my mom, who has passed, so they trickle to my sister and myself.
He sent lease papers for oil and gas on Section 26, numbers are 26/19N /3W. Lease is for $125.00 per acre and 3/16ths royalty. Seems about right from what I can see from looking around this forum.
My questions are: this company, Balboa Productions, is a one-man operation in a Dallas office building. Doesn’t seem like he’s going to drill any wells. The lease papers don’t say who the lessor is. Two sets, one for me, one for my sister, neither say who is actually leasing the rights.
My stepdad had interests in several counties it appears, and I have been trying to track them down and get documentation, but didn’t know about Logan County until this guy called.
Is this some kind of scam? I could understand if it was an oil company, but not sure what this guy’s game is. Have left a message for him to call and am waiting for him to call and will ask him directly if he does. Just not sure.
