I generally throw letters offering to buy my mineral rights in the trash. However, this one offered me $6,400.00 an acre (I own almost 100 acres) for rights on land that no well has been drilled yet. I'm wondering is they know something I don't. Where would I go to find the info that this company would have used to make me such an offer? It is in the Permian Basin. Thanks Al Freeman
Hi Al,
With a county and survey name lots of us on the forum can take a look and let you know what we see going on in the area. The Texas Railroad Commission website is where most of us get our data.
Where would I look this up on the Texas Railroad Commission website? Thanks Al
There is a video tutorial on the Home page of this site that shows how to navigate the RRC. Depending where you are, $6400 may be low.
It would help if you could tell us the County and if your legal name is Al, Albert, Allan? A quick search would get you the information you want.
Hi, Al -
I subscribe to an online service called DrillingInfo that has everything the RRC has in a much more user friendly format. If you will send or post your legal description, I will be happy to pull up maps and data on Drilling, Production and Leasing activities in your area that should help you get a better idea of what is going on.
You can either post your legal description here or you can accept my offer to become A Friend on The Forum and send it to me directly (Sign in in the upper right hand corner and look for your Inbox).
Wade Caldwell is right, $6400 may be low. I normally advise that people not sell their minerals (they typically didn't cost you anything and only stand to make you money), but if your circumstances make it desirable or a necessity, I will be happy to see if I can locate you a better offer.
I don't charge anybody I meet through The Forum for any of that.
Hope this helps -
Charles
