Leasing question, plus

I am a landowner in western Kansas where a leasing company is putting together a "package" of adjacent land, they say. They are at about 6 quarters of land now, all land adjacent. My suspicion is that they are considering horizontal wells. If only vertical well plans they only need a piece of land. There are 3 long run (from CO/WY to Cushing, OK) buried crude oil pipelines on one of the leased quarters which MAYBE they could connect saving all the future hauling costs.

I would be interested in comments from experienced people.

typically, wells are drilled based on geology, not on proximity to a transportation ability.

I suspect they like the way the geology looks in the area.

As Mr. Dowd said, the proximity of transport would just be icing on the cake. There still needs to be cake.
