My widowed sister in law has mineral rights in Las Animas County Colorado and has asked me to try to find if there is any or much leasing interest in this county. I'm a novice but found this website and hope someone could give me info or direct me to where I could find info to help her.

Oil and gas production in Las Animas County has been hit and miss over the decades but with new technology, It will have a future with Shale developments. It won't happen in the near term unless one of the big companies like Shell decides to do some drilling research but the area has an attractive geologic history.
If your sister has a large acreage position, its never too soon to examine the asset and make a plan.

I don't know about any hit and miss and there is NO oil production in the entire county, there is only a bunch of shallow gas wells in one area 31S to New Mexico border and between 65W and 68W, that's pretty much the jest of it. There are a lot of permits, but it is all in the same area.
