The BLM has approached me with an offer for a conservation easement on 450 acres, Township 33, Sections 22 & 27, in Sublette County Wyoming. Before agreeing to a conservation lease I would like to know if there is any value in leasing the mineral rights to local gas companies drilling in the area.
Brady, You didn’t note the Range associated with your property, but you may find the Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission website helpful (http://wogcc.state.wy.us/), particularly the mapping software: http://wogccms.state.wy.us/ . The mapping software should give you an idea of where oil and gas activity is and if you are close to it. Remember though, it only takes one discovery well to open up an entire new play where there was no activity before.
