Hi

I am trying to find out how one can find out if any drilling or activity in going on with an oil lease in Billings County ND. I signed a 3year lease back in Sept. 2011. I am new to all of this.

Bruce: Currently, there are six wells being drilled in Billings County., according to the report by the ND IC. Several being drilled by Continental Resources and others by Whittington, GMX and Denbury. This area should see increased activity over the next few years depending on the production results. The new drills will most likely occur based on lease expiration dates.

My lease is with Diamond Resources ( Continental Resources. Inc. as Lessee . It is Township 41north, Range 98 West of the 5th P.M.

Section 14: W1/2 NE1/4, SW1/4

Section 23: NW1/4

400.00 Gross Acres 12.50 Net Acres

How would I find out what is being done by them or do they just sit on it? It is a 3 year lease that started the end of 2011. Appreciate any help on understanding this as I am new to all of this.

Continental has a couple of wells currently being drilled in T141N;R98W area. Most likely, they will be utilizing their rigs for leases which are nearing expiration dates. The area you are located in is beginning to heat up but again it might be a year or possibly more depending the lease expiration dates in your area before any drilling takes place. All you can do is just sit and wait. If you go to the NDIC website, click on GIS map, plug in your T/R/S, you can view the current activity in your area.
