Lease turnover multiple times?

I am wondering what is legal, or normal or what.

About 14 years ago, I has wells producing gas by one company. It was then taken over by another, I assume to try to extract remains. Then that changed to 3 more companies. I have no real lease information on the last couple of years nor do I know if anything came of it. The website Enverus, charges a fortune were I to try to access. Should I have received any new lease payments, just in order to change companies? Or is this all done without payment to O&M owners? How do I know if it’s all done, has everything at the county clerk’s office gone back to my name only, without any company on the land, or do they not have to bother? Wouldn’t that make it look unavailable ?

I realize this incorporates multiple questions, but I haven’t been able to find any help, calling the last company, Silverbrook energy.

Thank you.

Leases can change hands multiple times. You will not get a new lease payment if the original lease is still active under its terms. Operators can also change multiple times. They do not have to inform the mineral owner unless you have that clause in your lease. If you share the location, we can look up any activity. Need the State, County, section-township-range for most states. (or Block, Abstract name & Number and section for Texas).

You should keep a file, paper or on your computer, with the lease, division orders, well data and your deeds. Make a spreadsheet with all the wells, including the API numbers and state identification numbers. You can access production volumes, current operator, well status and other records on the state oil and gas regulatory site.
