Through an inheritance, I’m a mineral rights owner. Not a land owner. I have recently, within the past year, signed some lease agreements and received payment for the signing of those leases, with a large oil and gas company to hopefully do some drilling for LNG, I’m assuming. There were several properties and they’re all located in Monroe County Ohio. My question is how long does this process typically take? The first step I assume is permitting. I periodically go onto http://oilandgas.ohiodnr.gov/shale to see about any new permitting. I assume there’s a possibility that they may never apply for a permit and just hold onto these? Also, the “Landman” has informed me that the required percentage of heirs for the mineral rights has been achieved. Any thoughts? Thank you!
