I entered into an agreement in 1985 with sunco inc. I bought 1% of a lease package. Tanks and pump jack was bought but too much water was pumped. Most people sold for pennies on the dollar. I did not sell.
The lease was in moore county tx se/4 section 166 blk 3t. Is their a way to research and see if the lease has been reentered and do I have any rights.
I'm assuming you have already tried to get info from SunCo or their successor? If you didn't pay your share of lease expenses, the operator may have taken over your share of the lease for non-payment.
Other possibility is: to hold a lease after the primary term, it must be producing. Since you have not been receiving checks or paying expenses (I'm assuming you haven't) then the lease would have expired and reverted to the mineral owner. The well should have been plugged. Did the operator bill you for your share of plugging expenses?
There is a video tutorial on the homepage showing how to navigate the RRC website. It should allow you to see if the well is still producing and still being reported as Sunoco as the operator. Sometimes the operator info is not current, but it should show you if there is currently production. If there is no current production, it does not necessarily mean the lease has terminated, but you would need to have an attorney look at he lease to tell for sure.
