I just got a Participation Proposal for some mineral rights in Lea County. Does anyone know of a law firm who could advise me on the contract?
I leased my mineral rights in 15/36 to Wyotex for 25%. 320 acres, so consider leasing to someone other than Matador. Wyotex is going to participate.
Is there a problem with Matador? Are they an untrustworthy company?
Sid, Matador is a $6.5 billion company. They have a large legal team inside and outside the corporation. All of those lawyers do their best to advance Matador’s business interests. That’s why it is worth your money to have an attorney looking out for your interest. That said, sometimes it is hard to find a good oil and gas attorney, because you are a one time customer and the oil companies are repeat customers.
I use a consultant, who is not an attorney, but has been in the oil business for years and knows her way around mineral leases, way better than I ever will. Her advice has made me a lot of money.
