Laguna Resources LLC?

Looks like Reliance Energy/Blue Bayou is leasing in sec 6-Blk 36 T4N. Keep an ear open for them.

Thanks for the info. We have not been contacted lately to lease, but did have an offer to purchase our mineral rights about a month ago. We declined their offer since we intend to keep the land and minerals.

Laguna Resources is a new startup and is currently drilling in Dawson County. The founders and management are former EOG employees that were division managers and very intelligent. They were responsible for developing many different fields ranging from Louisiana & Texas to Ohio among others. I expect the company to be very successful knowing the management. I had the privilege of working with these guys in Oklahoma and Ohio while developing 2 fields in Oklahoma and another in central Ohio. The company is new but the guys managing it are not. They have many years’ experience and are very good at what they do.

Red Fisher is correct. Don’t know how well they’ll do on the new well they’re drilling in Dawson right now. It’s pretty far north.

I hope they do great. Both the CEO & COO were division managers for EOG, and I would bet they’re following a drilling plan EOG had already developed but I don’t know for sure. The first well is drilled and they’re on the second well now.

Any idea what formation they are targeting? I find it very interesting that the 2 wells are going “up”, toward Lamesa, where there isn’t any activity.

I don’t know the formation. It’ll be interesting to see how they turn out.

I read an article on the Midland Reporter-Telegram on Saturday about Laguna Texas Resources. It gives some insight about their activities in Dawson County for this year. Nathan Andrew’s,CEO of Laguna is quoted as saying that they plan to drill 8-10 wells this year. “We’re doing four now and then release the rig for a couple of months to evaluate the wells. We want to sit back and evaluate how we did on these first wells and then, with a green light, get the rig back and drill more wells. We like the oil price now so we are going to drill now. We were happy with prices in the $60s and to operate in that environment. We don’t need $70 or $80 oil but we’ll take it.” I assume he is speaking of the Panther D-G and the Panther H which I’ve seen the permits for but aren’t sure of the other two. Possibly Big Bend and one more? Anyway, something to keep an eye out for. Hopefully some activity on the other Panther Units this year…
