In Kings County the current large oil & gas production regions are the Kettleman North Dome which is east of Avenal and West of Kettleman City. Also there is some production in the Kettleman Middle dome which is further to the south. Kings County is potentially a future site for Monterey Shale drilling. The County is dominated by farming interests and a couple of smaller cities including Hanford, Lemoore, Avenal, and Corcoran. The county has nice casino (Tachi Palace) as well as two large correctional institutions (Corcoran prison and Avenal State prison).
It appears right now solar leasing is more prevalent than oil leasing, however that may change with the increase in oil prices. Anyone else seeing activity in the oil sector here?
