Kingfisher County Change of Operator from Ovintiv to Flywheel

Our operator, Ovintiv, sold its Anadarko assets which include several active wells in which I have mineral interest. The purchaser is Flywheel LLC, I believe. I realize there is a process for that change of operator which may include documents to be filed before the Corporation Commission Oil & Gas Conservation Division status, etc. From reading about that process, it might take a while. Meanwhile, there is an online quotation from a search that says, “Revenue payments can be suspended while the operator processes the transfer, particularly if there is a change in ownership.” Fortunately, this is income we don’t depend on for survival, but I’ve not received any reply to an email inquiry to Ovintiv about anticipated revenues from 2/1/26 sales of oil & gas from these wells. The typical distribution of royalty deposits would have taken place on 4/20/26. Just wondering if any of you more experienced mineral rights owners have any experience with this process and can give an idea of what to expect. Might Flywheel have to issue new Division Orders, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Our notifications of change of ownership took between 1-7 months to process and go into effect, depending on the operator. (ND/MT) In my experience many of the operators suspended royalty payments in this period, while a few continued to pay out to the 1st owner until the transfer was complete and indicated we’d have to sort that out ourselves. Hang in there and good luck!

Flywheel took me forever to get in pay on in Arkansas. Try reaching out to Flywheel instead of Ovintiv since Flywheel acquired it.

I seem to remember the Ovintiv sale for OK does not finalize until May. Ovintiv is still sending out royalty checks as of April.

Yes, Martha. I did receive royalties from Ovintiv in April, albeit a little bit later in the month than I was accustomed to receive it. I suspect that’s not unusual these hectic days in the industry. Thanks for confirming. I will hope to see something from Flywheel once the sale is finalized. Thank you for your reply.

When Flywheel bought some of ConocoPhillips wells in OK, there was about a two month delay in getting them “live” on Enversus and transferred over to FW Midcon, the parent company.
