My family has a half interest in the mineral rights of about 20 acres in Atascosa County (Farm Track No. 5066 of the Simmons Subdivision of Section 10 of the Dr. Charles F. Simmons 95,000 acre subdivision). The lease is recorded in Atascosa County under "Instrument No. 130184.
The acreage was leased to CIMA Resources in December 2011 and assigned to EOG Resources in March 2012. We didn't hear anything at all from EOG until September 2013. They requested an amendment to adjust the restrictions to their ability to pool horizontal wells into larger units. The agreement related only to the "Jimmy Unit".
We haven't heard anything from EOG since September and want to know if there's a way to find out the status of the drilling and the possible timing of royalties (if they've been successful). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the quick response, Clint.
Our family doesn't know much about the oil & gas business.
What can be inferred from the lack of a completion report?
Alan,
A completion or IP(Initial Production Test) report will sometimes give you a ballpark figure of what the well will produce as far as oil/natural gas/water. Of course all wells will decline in production over the lifetime of the well. Some of these Oil Companies never file a Completion Report because they don't want their competitors knowing of their success or failure.
Alan I am including a link to the Atascosa County Group. You might want to join.
