Is there lithium here?

Hi all, I remain pretty ignorant about rights, and have learned what I can from you on this forum– thank you.

BPX, the main driller on my Caddo land in the Hayneville Shale complex, is trying to buy my rights from me, as are a handful of other companies including Maven. Maven offered 10k and BPX 8.5 k per acre. As a skeptic, I assume something is happening that these companies want, and my husband has read about the Smackover Formation and the possibility of lithium. Does anyone know good information about this topic/area? I would love to sell and pay off bills, but I am balancing that need with the idea that I might be making a mistake not waiting for a bigger payoff related to lithium.

Thanks in advance for giving me your thoughts!

Well the money is in oil and gas, lithium is not worth that much, compared to oil and gas , I do know that you will have taxes to pay when and if you sell, personally these oil companies will make a lot of of your minerals, I would not sale !!! You be glad you didn’t when you start getting mail box money, just my to cents, I live in caddo and have interest in Arkansas! Lithium will be a long time before it get delivered to markets! Hope this helps some? Good luck

My grandfather was a O& G geologist in LA, OK, TX , KS and Central America back in the 40’s–50’s. He always said “ never sell”. In those days all the wells were short and vertical. Look how technology has changed! He would never have imagined ….. If you are being offered good $ , then someone knows something there is likely worthwhile!

thank you for the input– I would love to find some detailed information about the area where my wells are– could anyone tell me how to get that? I feel like I need some factual information from anyone in the business. It seems like other people on here have been able to ask questions about their property?

I posted this as its own post, but I should put it here: just started looking at the property records on the county websites where I have mineral rights and they don’t match what I think I own. In Texas my mom‘s name is still on a bunch of stuff Even though my name is on others. How do I even begin getting all of this sorted out? Do I call the county directly and do they know what I own, and how do I convert anything in my mom’s name to 1/3 mine? This is all been so difficult for me to figure out. I appreciate the help.

You are getting offers because you have horizontal wells on your acreage already and another one just permitted with a rig running next door in section 2. You have room for several more wells in your section. Your payoff is going to be in gas royalties, not lithium. Most buyers are going to pay you a discounted cash flow on your current wells, but probably not for the new well. They intend to make a profit off of acreage they buy.

Thank you! So if I’m being offered 10k an acre for a 29k payout now, do you think there’s a way holding into the land for monthly payouts will actually be better? I’m 52 but I have a 15 year old son.

The single mile well on the E. side of your section (Trosper Heirs 3H) was drilled in 2012 and recompleted in 2023; it made about $10.5MM before recompletion and another $4.5MM after. The three mile well on the W. side (CR Woods 3-34-27HC) was drilled at a profitable time in 2022 and has made over $14MM, as well. Due to spacing, this means you’ve made about $13K on the single mile well and over $4K on the three miler. It looks like you have at least another maybe lease line well too. As mentioned you have a permit, with room for another 3-5 wells.

In Panola, it looks to mostly already be producing, but there may be room for a couple more wells

Hi again– thank you. In Caddo Parish, because BPX wanted to purchase from me, they ran the entire title search and I know I have rights to 2.97 acres.

In Panola, I have a long file of different numbers and descriptions but I don’t know what it means. I am attaching. I called several Landman offices but haven’t heard from anyone yet. Thank you!!

There’s likely lithium in the smackover formation in that area. Exxon, standard lithium, etc are very interested in this area. My partner is a leading lithium researcher in that area. I’ll ask him about it and post a follow up here!

Wow, I feel like I’ve struck gold! (lol). Thank you so so much for asking your partner about this, this is what I’ve been wondering and it’s so hard to get information.

I really, really appreciate this?

Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum and would like some information to see if there’s any activity present or in the new future for 20-08N-10W. I received a offer from a land man from Heller oil inc by email mentioning different bonuses at different royalties, and I also received a phone Call from I believe another landman from Spring rock mineral and made me an offer over the phone. Any information really appreciate it thanks.

Is this for Caddo County OK or for Caddo Parish, La? Given the land group, I am guessing Oklahoma.

Hi! Did you find out about anything about lithium in the area of Caddo parish Louisiana or Pohala county Texas?

Speculation here, but I agree and believe small landowners will not see benefits from mining lithium. It will be mined creating very very large holes. Not thousands of extraction points like wells.

I do believe it’s more important to pay attention to data centers need for electricity in the next 5 to 10 years. One huge enabler of this is NG. Nuclear will be a player but comes with pr nightmare in the US and current infrastructure is nothing like NG. They just put in a 42in gas pipe near here last year. Came through about 3 miles from us.

Agreed… The money for landowners is still oil and gas.
