What’s your take on investing in oil and gas companies now for an investor interested in low to medium risk?
Not yet.
I saw this week that a company I had considered investing in a few years ago (when prices were also very low) just went bankrupt.
Who knows what to do, although I did buy some Halliburton. $38.
In the 1980s when everything went to pot, I sold short on service company stocks.
For some reason, their stock went up.
If you’re interested in low to medium risk investing, I don’t think you should be considering anything tied to oil and gas commodity prices. Now, if medium to high risk is what you are looking for, I think the upcoming weeks to months might be an interesting time to invest. But again, this is currently trying to catch a falling knife. That being said, these are just my opinions and I don’t consider myself all that qualified to answer this question. I’m basically in the same boat as you!
Good luck!
Texas tea, I appreciate your opinion thank you. Interesting comments from the others. Thank you.
CHARLES Cunningham: let me know when! Just gathering information. Fun to discuss.
I am thinking about CNOOC, the Chinese oil company. It is traded on the NYSE. Very few Chinese companies ever go bankrupt; the government doesn’t let it happen. I have done a lot worse in the past.
