How can i find out if my land will be drilled on? Is it public record? I own in oklahoma but I dont live there, but people have told me that they usually will contact me by mail.
Unless drilling is a condition of your lease and you would receive liquidated damages if drilling does not occour, the operator/lessee need not ever drill. I believe that it is rare that an operator/lessee contacts a lessor unless it was a requirement in the lease. Usually the contact by mail is when you receive the division order 6 months or longer after the well has sales. Very often, the lessor is as interesting to the operator/lessee as the newspaper used to wrap yesterdays fish.
