Inheriting mineral rights

Do you automaticly inherit mineral rights or do your grandparents have to give them to you?

They have to be deeded or willed to you. Sure would be nice if everything was automatic.

ThANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER.

I WILL BE GOING TO THE ABSTRACT OFFICE AND DO SOME SEARCHING.

Inheritance laws vary from state to state so whichever state the minerals you are asking about would be control by that state's laws.

The answer that you were grateful for is dead wrong. It is not at all unusual for someone to die without a will or to acquire mineral rights without ever having been deeded them. If someone dies without a will, the laws of descent and distribution will apply. It is true that the laws vary from state to state. Be very careful when you read the replies here. Some of the regulars clearly do not know what they are writing about.
