Inherited minerals

I recently inherited mineral rights for 4.1 acres in Saline County. How could I find out who actually owns the land, if I’m wanting to sell them?

Did you find any info? I also inherited 42 acres of mineral rights. I have no idea what is going on with the drilling, etc. I live in Washington state. Betsy

The surface acres are generally documented at the appraisal district office for the county. You would have to know the exact description location. They may have an online portal.
You can sell the minerals to anyone who will buy them. Get legal help before signing anything.

I don’t practice in Illinois, but I doubt that you would need the involvement of the surface owner in order for you to sell your minerals. That being said, the surface owner may have an interest in acquiring them. Hire an Illinois attorney prior to any transaction.
