Inherited Mineral rights in North Dakota

Hi

Looking for some advice inherited all rights oil gas minerals, living in Canada and property in North Dakota. What are the next steps? I have heard that if not active exploration development then the USA Government will have all the rights???

Thank you in advance for all the information you send my way.

Jacqueline,

You may want to check with the county recorder office in the county where your inherited mineral rights are located and ask them for advice on making sure they are recorded in your name. There will be some legal steps that you need to take to make sure they are registered in your name. They may be able to inform you of oil activity in the county where your mineral rights are located. There are also county groups for many ND counties in the Mineral Rights Forum that are useful to read.

The top right hand corner of the home page for the Mineral Rights Forum has a place to initiate a search. That is a helpful place to see what people have asked before on this same subject.

Another helpful site is the North Dakota State Industrial Commission .

https://www.dmr.nd.gov/oilgas/

The left hand side of that page has a section named Services and you might want to link to the one that reads: FAQ &Web Help. It would be informative to read the one that is titled; How do I update my surface mineral rights?
