Hello I’m trying to figure out how to get information on what companies have leased the sections for at least the past 50 years that I have inherited after my mom’s death. My mother passed before she was able to even understand her inheritance and to my knowledge my grandfather ( Mom’s dad) never new or just wasn’t interested in pursuing his inheritance.
Currently I have the deeds for 2 out of 3 sections after my sister passed .
Any information on who or what direction I could start with would be appreciated.

go on okcountyrecords.com. You might need to buy a one month subscription. That will show all the ogls that your mother signed. Now, if she signed a lease to a broker or a landman, they might have assigned it to their client.
If it were in Burke county, ND, where would I ask. I have been appointed by 8 other heirs, to find out about this. The original owner was my mother’s uncle. He died in 1960. We have no papers after him. We all live in Norway, so pursuing offices in person will be costly.
All I have found on line was him registering a homestead in 1920. I would be very thankful if you could point me in the right direction.
I feel your pain. I have gone through a similar search. Only my search begin with my grandfather purchasing mineral rights beginning back in 1927. Just this week I found out about another well in the county. I had no idea we had any mineral rights in.
One of the best ways I found has been to go to the various possible states and look for funds that have been escheated. I found there were lot of properties that have no active leases, but had leases in the past. Plus, going to the state databases submitted by most counties. It took me almost 2 years before I started getting comfortable that I was close to identifying everything.
You should search the land records. You can purchase a viewing subscription, or you can purchase tokens to print (save as pdf) the files you want. Be sure to search unclaimed property in Oklahoma and the states where your your grandfather lived.
Going forward you are probably looking at an Affidavit of Heirship or a Probate depending on several factors.
