If wells dry up, do they eventually have oil again

Hello,

I recently inherited some mineral rights. The legal descriptions are:

SE/4 of section 2, T14N, R26 W

and

Lots 2, 3, 4 and SW/4 of the NW/4 Section 3, T13, Range 26.

My questions are:

  1. Is there any activity going on with these well?

  2. If wells dry up, do they eventually have oil again?

  3. If they are dry, what happens to them?

  4. Is there any use for them if there is no activity?

2-14N-26W has one gas well. Molly 1 by Diversified. You will have to contact them and notify them that you have inherited and to switch payments to the heirs. Be ready with probate documents, death certificates, driver’s license. Leasing in progress if there are open zones.

3-13N-26W -all previous wells are plugged. Leasing in progress.

Make sure that you file the probate and your name and address in the county courthouse with the recorder. That way the leasing agents can fnd you if you are open.

1, A new play is developing in the area, so additional horizons may be drilled.

  1. The old zone may be finished, but new zones might become new targets

  2. Dry wells are supposed to be properly plugged and abandoned.

  3. Some can be re-completed in another zone. Just depends upon the area. Old vertical wells are rarely used for horizontal wells. The hole size is usually too small and the casing too old to be trustworthy.
