Historically, our family has one or more leases in this well and we are trying to determine a few things:

  1. Is it possible to invest in the same well with different companies? Or did the refiner just change muliple times?
  2. In all our research, the hardest thing to find is the name of the refiner (or payer of the leases). I can get to the Operator easily through public records, but not the refiner.

Is there a great way to find this information publicly? One Oklahoma researcher mentioned County records would show this information. Further, that State tax records would show actual profitablility to confirm production.

Has anyone found an good way to solve any of these challenges.

Chowins 1-11 has Culbreath Oil & Gas Co listed as the operator. The Oil gatherer is Emmaus Energy LLC. The Gas Gatherer is Scissortial Energy LLC. The operator is usually reponsible for paying royalties.

Go to the OK tax site. https://oktap.tax.ok.gov/oktap/web/_/#2

Scroll down to the Public Pun search and type in Chowins in the lease name. It will list every well with that name. Pick 1-11 and then you will see all the tabs that go with it.

If I understand you correctly the lease payer should be Culbreath Oil. So they would be who we contact to inquire about updating ownership?

Yes. The mineral owner is responsible for any updates in ownership.
